Celebrating Pakistan's Rich Heritage through Art: Team AIK's Collaboration with visual artist, Huba Akhlaq

Art has a unique ability to transcend boundaries and connect people to their cultural roots. In a world filled with endless possibilities for creativity, Team AIK collaborated with Visual Communication Designer, Huba Akhlaq, to beautifully capture the essence of Pakistan's cultural diversity and present a piece that celebrated not just the green hue of Pakistan's flag, but all the vibrant colours that represent our rich heritage.

“I started my artistic journey from the National College of Arts. My love for visuals sprouts from all the endless possibilities there are when it comes to imagination. Visuals are like a deeper reality, an entirely different realm that I'm really excited to step into and explore.” Huba Akhlaq in conversation with AIK.

A Fantastical Garden of Symbolism:

The heart of this collaboration was an illustration that can only be described as a fantastical garden filled with symbols of Pakistan's diverse crafts, each representing a different region of the country. From glowing Phulkari stars to hand embroidered roses, Balochi sheesha work, a carpet adorned with Ralli work and Iraghi embroidery, a chair featuring the iconic Paisleys from Kashmir, and the intricate Gota work, every element in the illustration tells a story of Pakistan's artistic richness. Hidden among the myriad of details was a subtle nod to Pakistan's national flower, the Chambeli, an Easter egg for those who truly appreciate the beauty of this nation.

The Timeless AIK Woman:

The illustration featured a central figure, the timeless AIK woman, elegantly dressed Look 02 from Wedding Festive 2023, a House favourite.  This particular Look was chosen because of the gota embellishments on the design that are an ode to the native craft of Pakistan. She stood wearing this piece as a symbol of joyous celebration, radiating the allure of Pakistani culture and carrying the legacy of her heritage with pride. Her presence in the artwork added depth and meaning, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary life.

The Message from the House of AIK:

The House of AIK aimed to remind its audience that Pakistan is not just a country; it's a kaleidoscope of colors, traditions, and stories waiting to be shared with the world. In a world that often focuses on what sets us apart, this collaboration is a shining example of how art can bring us together, reminding us of the shared beauty that resides in the heart of our nation. It's a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and an inspiration for the future.
